The 2024 Toronto Chess Open was held from 31st August to 2nd September at the St. Casimir’s Parish Hall in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

The event was organized by the Annex Chess Club in five elo sections: Crown, U2200, U1900, U1600, U1300. Time control across the board was 90+30.

All sections were CFC rated and completed over 6 rounds of Swiss system. Crown, U2200, and U1900 are also FIDE-rated.

The main Crown section had 22 participants. International Masters Safal Bora and Anthony Atanasov shared the first place with 5/6 points each.

The U2200 section had 43 participants. Aman Sharma IND 1834 was convincing with 5.5/6 points.

The U1900 section gathered 66 players. Ryan Leong 1891 was the sole winner with 5.5/6 points.

The U1600 section had 24 players. Farhaan Syed 1272 won this section with 5/6 points.

The U1300 section had 53 participants. Omar Karimzada 977 and Duc Khai Le 1188 shared the first place with 5.5 points each.

Crown section standings:

1-2 IM Bora Safal 2484 and IM Atanasov Anthony 2396 – 5/6
3-4 IM Vettese Nicholas 2333 and CM Jaferian Koosha 2205 – 4
5-6 IM Plotkin Mark 2339 and Huang Youhe 2048 – 3.5 etc
