The 90th Annual Southwest Chess Open will take place from 29th August to 2nd September at the DoubleTree by Hilton Bush International in Houston, Texas, USA.
The Main International section will be played over 9 rounds of Swiss pairings with the time control G/90+30. This section is FIDE rated and eligible for title norms.
Other three sections, U2300, Reserve (U2000), and Novice (U1500), will start from 30th August and play seven Swiss rounds. U2300 Section is also FIDE rated.
Prizes:
International: $2,400 – $1,200 – $600 – $405 – $200, (Top U2400 US Chess Rating: $800; Top U2200 US Chess rating: $400). Students in International Section: $400 – $250 – $150 (+ plaques).
U2300: $800 – $405 – $205 (U2100: $400 – $200 (U1900: $300 – $150).
Reserve (U2000): $800 – $405 – $205 (Class B, 1600 -1799 Prizes: $400 โ 200; U1600 Prizes: $300 – $150).
Novice (U1500): $500 – $250 – $125 (Class E, 1000 โ 1199 Prizes: $300 – $150; U1000 Prizes: $300 – $150; Top Unrated: $200.
