The 90th Annual Southwest Chess Open was held from 29th August to 2nd September at the DoubleTree by Hilton Bush International in Houston, Texas, USA.
The Main International section was played over 9 rounds of Swiss pairings with the time control G/90+30. This section is FIDE rated and eligible for title norms.
Other three sections, U2300, Reserve (U2000), and Novice (U1500), started from 30th August and had seven Swiss rounds. U2300 Section is also FIDE rated.
The Main International section had 62 participants. In the closely contested competition six players shared the first place with 6.5/9 points each.

The Under 2300 section had 84 players. Brian Jeremiah Tineo 2130 was the sole winner with 6.5/7 points.
The Reserve (U2000) section gathered 78 players. Arush Sunil 1752 won this section with 6.5/7 points.
The Novice (U1500) section had 64 participants. Charles Chen 1493 and Anurag Roy Choudhury 1337 shared the first place with 6/7 points each.
