The CSU ASE sports club from Bucharest announces the organization of series of chess events for female players, continuing a tradition of organizing tournaments to promote female excellence in chess. The series of events for chess queens will start with the Queens Rapid Chess Challenge 2024 which will be played on 10 March at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, Romania.
Nearly 50 players registered for a tournament, and IM Irina Bulmaga (Romania, 2365 Rapid rating) headlines the field together with WFM Ema Obada (Romania, 2163 Rapid rating) and WIM Silvia-Raluca Sgircea (Romania, 2109 Rapid rating). The tournament will be played in 7 rounds, swiss system, with the time control of 15 minutes + 10 seconds increment, with the total prize fund of 2.600 euros (13.000 RON). The first prize amounts to 800 euros, and the detailed distribution of prizes can be found below.
