While Indian Open team remained perfect in the Open section of the 45th Chess Olympiad, India’s Women’s team was stopped by Poland yesterday.
Poland stunned India yesterday in the 8th round of the Women’s Chess Olympiad, stopping India’s winning streak of seven consecutive victories. It was a narrow win of the match for Poland, with the final score of 2.5-1.5. IM Alina Kashlinskaya was victorious on the top board against GM Harika Dronavalli, and GM Monika Socko scored against GM Rameshbabu Vaishali. And despite IM Divya Deshmukh’s victory against IM Aleksandra Maltsevskaya, Poland scored a match win thanks to WIM Alicja Sliwicka who calmly hold a draw against IM Agrawal Vantika.
After eight played rounds, three teams in the Women’s section score 14 match points to tie for the top: India, Poland and Kazakhstan.
Playing on the top-board today, Poland will face Kazakhstan, while India goes against USA. The top board pairings are:
