London Chess Classic 2023 starts in England

The 13th edition of the London Chess Classic commences today in London, England!

It is a 10-player round-robin tournament, with the time control of 90 minutes for 40 moves + 30 minutes for the rest of the game, with a 30-second increment for each move. The total prize fund of the event is ÂŁ38,500.

GM Gukesh D (IND, 2720) is the top-seeded player of the tournament, followed by GM Nikita Vitiugov (ENG, 2704), GM Amin Tabatabaei (IRI, 2692), GM Hans Niemann (USA, 2667), GM Michael Adams (ENG, 2661), GM Mateusz Bartel (POL, 2659), GM Andrei Volokitin (UKR, 2659), GM Jules Moussard (FRA, 2635), GM Luke McShane (ENG, 2631) and IM Shreyas Royal (ENG, 2438).

The first round of the event starts at 14:00 (local time), and live broadcast of the games can be followed through the official website of the event.

The event will be closed with the Pro-Biz Cup, taking place on Monday, 11th of December 2023. As part of the 13th London Chess Classic, the Pro-Biz Cup will bring business minds and Grandmasters together in a fun tournament to raise money for the UK charity Chess in Schools and Communities. 

The London Chess Classic is organised by Chess in Schools and Communities (CSC), a UK charity whose mission is to improve children’s educational outcomes and social development by introducing them to the game of chess.
