India showed dominance at the 45th Chess Olympiad, winning gold in both Open and Women’s sections!
India’s Open team was undefeated in the tournament, and finished the event with impressive score of 21/22 match points! Leading the team, Gukesh D on the top board scored unbeaten 9/10 points, Praggnanandhaa scored 6/9 points, Arjun Erigaisi was unbeaten with 10/11 points, Vidit Santosh Gujrathi had 7.5/10 points without a loss, and Harikrishna Pentala played three games scoring 2.5/3 points.
India’s Women’s team headed into the last round with the co-leadership with Kazakhstan. However, India emerged as the sole Winner of the event after convincing 3.5-0.5 victory over Azerbaijan, while Kazakhstan played 2-2 against USA. India suffered only one loss in the Women’s tournament, and it was against Poland in the 8th round of the event.
