India’s Open team remains unbeatable in the Open section of the 45th Chess Olympiad. Scoring perfect 16/16 match points, India has 2-point advantage over Uzbekistan and Hungary who score 14 match points.
India yesterday scored a convincing 3.5-0.5 victory over Iran, as Dommaraju Gukesh and Arjun Erigaisi continue to show brilliancies on the first and the third boards. Gukesh yesterday defeated Parham Maghsoodloo on the top board, while Erigaisi prevailed against Bardiya Daneshvar.
Gukesh D now scores 6.5/7 points, with a performance of 3085, while Arjun Erigaisi has a score of 7.5/8 points performing with 3011 rating. Both players entered top five in the world’s live rating list, and Arjun Erigaisi is just 8 points away from breaking 2800.
India goes against Uzbekistan in today’s 9th round, and the board pairings are:
