IM Lela Javakhishvili emerged as the Winner of the 81st Georgian Women’s Chess Championship which conluded today in Tbilisi!
It was a tight race for the top as GM Nino Batsiashvili and IM Lela Javakhishvili entered the last round co-leading the event with 6.5/8 points. Playing against Nia Donghvani (2029), Javakhishivli won the game and secured the tie for the first place, but GM Nino Batsiashvili didn’t manage to prevail against WFM Anastasia Kirtadze and the game finished in a draw. With the final score of 7.5 points, Lela Javakhishvili emerged as the sole Winner of the event and clinched her fifth national title, while Nino Batsiashvili won silver medal. Scoring 6.5 points, Meri Arabidze clinched bronze, and the rating favourite at the tournament, Bella Khotenashvili came fourth with the score of 6 points.
Theย 81st Georgian Womenโs Chess Championship took place from 9-18 February 2024 at the Tbilisi Chess Palace in Tbilisi, Georgia. It was a 10-player round-robin tournament and the final rankings are shown below.
