The 2022 World Open Rapid Chess Championship is played from 26-28th December at the Baluan Sholak Sports Palace in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The Championship format is 13-rounds Swiss with a time control of 15 minutes + 10 seconds and the event includes most of the world’s top players.

The second day of the event featured four rounds, and Hikaru Nakamura scored 2/4 with all the games finishing in a draw. It seemed that Hikaru had an advantage against Alexandr Predke at the start of the day, but he couldn’t prevail and the game finished with the perpetual check. It was a brutal fight to the naked kings in the second round of the day against Boris Savchenko though the game was around 00.00 all way through. 16-year-old Volodar Murzin successfully hold the position against Hikaru in today’s third round and it seemed that the American had no chance for a better result. The second day for Nakamura finished with another draw, this time against Shant Sargsyan who didn’t have any problems to score half a point.

Recapping his day 2 of the FIDE World Rapid Chess Championship, Nakamura says: “Dear YouTube, I fear I’ve become Drawkamura”:
