American Grandmaster Hans Niemann defeated Nikita Vitiugov in the second match of the “Hans Niemann against the World Series” that took place from 14-18th August at the Gem Fitzrovia Hotel in London.
The match consisted of: 6 classical games over 3 days (double rounds), 6 rapid games over 1 day, and 12 blitz games over 1 day. Games are weighted as 3/2/1 points, depending on the format.
Niemann started by winning the first Classical game of the match. The next five games were drawn for the total Classical score of 3.5-2.5 in Niemann’s favor.
In the Rapid segment, Niemann secured another victory with a score of 4-2. Finally, in the Blitz segment, the American dominated, winning convincingly by 9-3.
