After the WR Chess Masters High Roller collapsed, Hans Niemann started planning his own series of matches against the “World”.
Niemann announced the schedule as follows:
7-11th August in Utrecht, Netherlands against Anish Giri
14-18th August in London, UK against Nikita Vitiugov
20-24th August in Paris, France against Etienne Bacrot
29th Aug to 2nd Sept in Sharjah, UAE against Nihal Sarin
Each match should consist of: 6 classical games over 3 days (double rounds), 6 rapid games over 1 day, and 12 blitz games over 1 day.
However, it is not certain whether the matches are actually locked in, as Niemann also asked for the potential sponsors to reach out and connect. In addition, the venues are still unknown.
Hopefully this initiative will not fall apart as the poor publicity stunt of WR Chess Masters High Roller.
