Just a week after the end of the World Chess Championship Match 2023, the main actors of the match Ding Liren and Ian Nepomniachtchi face each-other at the Grand Chess Tour Romania 2023, the first event of the 2023 Grand Chess Tour. The event is taking place from 5-15 May in Bucharest with Anish Giri, Fabiano Caruana, Alireza Firouzja, Wesley So, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Jan-Krzysztof Duda, and Bogdan-Daniel Deac completing the field.
