The 2022 World Open Rapid Chess Championship will be played from 26-28th December at the Baluan Sholak Sports Palace in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The Championship format is 13-rounds Swiss with the time control 15 minutes + 10 seconds. Most of the world’s top players compete in the event, including the defending champion Nodirbek Abdusattorov, 2021 silver medalist Ian Nepomniachtchi and 2021 bronze medalist and reigning classical world champion Magnus Carlsen.
