Fabiano Caruana, the fresh winner of Bucharest Grand Chess Tour and Zagreb SuperUnited Rapid and Blitz, visited Jamaica on 24-25th July to meet with the local chess community and take part in their activities.
Caruana met with Jamaica’s Olympiad teams to provide instruction as they prepare for the Budapest Chess Olympiad in September.
Caruana, who was accompanied by GM Maurice Ashley, also participated in “GM in 10” initiative, whose purpose is to identify and train the most talented chess players in Jamaica.
Fabiano Caruana was delighted with the visit: “Had a great time in Jamaica, seeing the local chess scene and meeting the Olympiad team members and the candidates for Jamaica’s GM in 10 program. Huge thank you to @MauriceAshley for making the trip possible!”
