SuperUnited Rapid and Blitz Croatia, part of the GrandChessTour 2024, is taking place from 10-14th July at The Westin Hotel in Zagreb, Croatia.
This event features seven full-tour players and three wildcard players. The total prize fund is $175,000.
After three days and nine rounds to complete the rapid portion of the event, GM Fabiano Caruana is convincing leader with 15 points, a big 3 points ahead of Wesley So (2 points per rapid game). Caruana won all three games today.
Levon Aronian also had a good display, winning 5 points out of 6 and leaping ahead to the sole third place.
Next two days will see 9 double round-robin blitz games (1 point/game). The cumulative sum of the points (rapid + blitz) will determine the Winner of the tournament.
