ECU President meets Oleksandr Kamyshin – newly elected President of Ukrainian Chess Federation

Recently elected President of the Ukrainian Chess Federation, Oleksandr Kamyshin, arrived in Budapest, Hungary, for the 2024 FIDE General Assembly.

The President of the European Chess Union Zurab Azmaiparashvili met Kamyshin and presented him the golden-plate pin which was specially designed for the upcoming 40th anniversary of ECU.

European Chess Union two days ago supported Ukraine and requested from FIDE General Assembly to keep sanctions against Russia and Belarus. Further on, ECU asked FIDE Council to demand the Russian Chess Federation to cease any operations in Ukrainian territory. In case of non-compliance, ECU urged FIDE to suspend the Russian Chess Federation with immediate effect.
