Dinara Wagner wins Nicosia Women’s Grand Prix 2023!

The FIDE Women’s Grand Prix Nicosia 2023 concluded today in Cyprus as well as the two-year FIDE Women’s Grand Prix series. It was a thrilling finish of the tour with celebration of the two qualifiers for the FIDE Women’s Candidates Tournament 2024 and the Winner of the Nicosia Women’s Grand Prix event.

The lowest rated player in the field, WGM Dinara Wagner, triumphed the event scoring impressive 7/11 points. Wagner defeated GM Bella Khotenashvili in the last round to emerge as the sole Winner of the event, pocket a money-prize of 15.000 eur, earn a GM norm, and add 28 rating points to her ELO! IM Polina Shuvalova, GM Harika Dronavalli and GM Tan Zhongyi tied for second place scoring 6.5 points, each, sharing the prize of 30.000 eur in three equal parts.

Final results: FIDE Women’s Grand Prix Nicosia 2023:

Kateryna Lagno emerged as the Winenr of the Grand Chess Tour 2022/2023 series with the overall score of 325 points, while Aleksandra Goryachkina came second with 318 points. According to the regulations, Lagno and Goryachkina qualified for the FIDE Women’s Candidates Tournament 2024.
