The 103rd Irish Chess Championship 2024 was held from 3-11th August at The Talbot Hotel, Stillorgan, Dublin.
The 9-round Swiss tournament accepted players rated above 1900, current Irish Womenโs, 50+, and 65+ champions, all former Irish champions, two ICU nominees and one organiser nominee.
IM David Fitzsimons secured first place with an undefeated 7.5/9 points, finishing half a point ahead of the country’s only Grandmaster, Alex Baburin, to be declared the national champion.
This is Fitzsimons’ first championship. He is awarded with 1500 EUR top prize.
