The 52nd Annual World Chess Open took place from 3-7th July at the Sheraton Downtown in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.
The event had 6 sections with the total prize fund of $208,000.
The main Open section featured 244 participants. Grandmaster Awonder Liang stormed through the tournament to convincingly win the first place with 8,0/9 points, a full point ahead of the chasing pack. Liang earned USD 20,500 for the effort.
The second place is shared by GM Mikhail Antipov, GM Viktor Matviishen, 18-years old GM Arthur Guo from Atlanta and the untitled surprise Joseph Zeltsan. They were awarded USD 5625 each.
