The first match in the “Hans Niemann against the World Series” is set to take place from 7-11th August at the City Hall in Utrecht, Netherlands.
Niemann’s opponent is top Dutch Grandmaster Anish Giri. The prize fund is $50,000 with $35,000 dedicated to the match winner.
Each match in the Series will consist of: 6 classical games over 3 days (double rounds), 6 rapid games over 1 day, and 12 blitz games over 1 day. Games are weighted as 3/2/1, depending on the format.
The Utrecht match will start on 7th August from 15:00 with 12 blitz games.
The match will be broadcasted live on Hans Niemann’s Twitch with the commentary from GMs Amin Tabatabaei and Brandon Jacobson
