A spokesperson with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that a 17-year-old was charged with fourth-degree assault.

Police said he struck a 24-year-old woman in the back with his fist. He was released to a parent, and the matter would be handled in juvenile courts.

Christopher Yoo was expelled from the U.S. Chess Championship after a gross violation of both the St Louis Chess Club’s code of conduct and the US Chess safe play policy. Yoo teared up his scoresheet and struck a videographer.

Yoo is banned from the Saint Louis Chess Club. The US Chess Federation reacted immediately to the Safe Play complaint and temporarily suspended Grandmaster Christopher Yoo’s membership, pending a full investigation.
