The Stockfish team has officially released Stockfish 19, marking another major leap forward for the world’s strongest open-source chess engine.
The new update is an impressive performance boost of up to 44 Elo points over Stockfish 18. Powered by the new SFNNv16 neural network architecture, the engine integrates updated pawn-pair evaluation features while optimizing its data structures. Training on hundreds of billions of positions has further improved its evaluation accuracy.
User experience sees a major upgrade with the introduction of Universal Binaries, allowing the exe to automatically select the optimal instruction sets for your CPU.
Additional updates include native support for RISC-V and LoongArch architectures, overhauled shared-memory management, and stricter FEN/position validation.
