Freestyle Chess Players Club published an official statement on the official X account regarding their discussions with FIDE. The document’s title reads that the Freestyle Chess Players Club (FCPC) and FIDE agreed on friendly co-existence, but explains that the FCPS and FIDE will continue discussions regarding the mutual recognition of future World Championship titles.
Interestingly, the statement reads that both FIDE and FCPC “emphasize their shared commitment to collaboration and respect, regardless of the outcome of the discussion“. FCPC says that all 25 members of the Freestyle Chess Players Club (including Magnus Carlsen, Hikaru Nakamura, Fabiano Caruana, Gukesh D and others) will continue to participate in all Freestyle Chess Grand Slams as well as in FIDE tournaments, insinuating that there was a conflict within the FCPC and FIDE that would have banned the players of participation in both organisations.
The conflict and discussions between FIDE and Freestyle Chess Players Club was unknown to public until the date, but the statement shown below drew huge interest and many questions that are waiting to be answered.
