The chess world celebrated yesterday the International Chess Day and joined the FIDE’s attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the most chess games played in 24 hours.
More than 5.4 million chess games were played yesterday, and a new Guinness World Record was set! Guinness World Record Official Adjudicator Mr. Carl Saville announced the results in Biel which served as the technical center of the event, and handed the certificate to FIDE representative Mr. Laurent Freyd.
The final numbers of the number of games played yesterday will be announced in the upcoming days.
